It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

 Well, Christmas in now in full swing- we've got loads of lovely gifts also so don't worry we haven't filled the Rabbit just with decorations, as much as we'd love to!

It's not very clear in the photo above so here is a little close up of who is hiding under the sleigh on the table!

We're all set now for the Dickensian weekends- hoping for better weather than last year when snow and ice really stopped people from coming.

Christmas is coming fast now...

 The Rabbit is fast filling up with Christmas decorations now.

 As usual we have a massive selection of decorations in the shop- you need to visit to truly appreciate what's on offer.

This year again we have cupcake kits and treat/gift boxes and even some reindeer treats to leave out on Christmas Eve.

It's not all bright colourful baubles but lots of silver, gold and white also.

We think we've got every avenue covered from complete decadence to pared down minimalist white!

1940's- here we come!

We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the 1940's weekend despite it being rather cold. From the shop doorway we had a birds' eye view of the Square- the singing and dancing, stalls and the merry-go-round. It was amazing- a bit like time travel- we got a flavour of what our grandparents may have enjoyed in Grassington back then. Loads of people dressed up- a lot in genuine 1940's clothes- didn't people know how to dress decades ago- so glamorous but very time consuming!

The 1940's weekend is fast approaching!

There's great excitement here- we've bought our dresses and now we know what's happening over the 1940's weekend. The excitement starts at 7:30 pm on Friday 21st September with the Lindy Hop Dance in the Town Hall. There is a vintage market all weekend and a great mix of war themed events and activities along with 1940s stalls and entertainment. Saturday night ends with a Big Band Dance and to wind everything down on Sunday there's a Tea Dance in the Town Hall. It's going to be a jam packed weekend with loads of fun and nostalgia but also there will be a Remembrance Service on Sunday so that we can pause for a moment and reflect on the heartache and hardships of the time.

So put it in your diary Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd September and come and join us in Grassington for the 1940s weekend!

It's still wet and summer's almost gone...

We're now rapidly approaching the end of the summer holidays. Already the nights are turning cold and we are looking forward to the seasons ahead. Soon our new consignment of nostalgic goodies will be whizzing through the door in preparation for the 1940s weekend in Grassington- we'll keep letting you know how our preparations are going on for that and would love any tips on authentic clothing and shopkeeping for the war years. See what we've already got in in the photos!
Looking further ahead we have had our first batch of Christmas decorations arrive- yes, it does seem rather early but considering we ordered them all the way back in January we are filled with great excitement to see what has come in the big brown boxes! However, we won't spill the beans just yet as to what has come- there's a lot of work to do before then such as checking every item to make sure it's as perfect as we'd like and pricing it all up.

Back to the here and now- lots of goodies keep arriving and we'll try to pop as much online as we can!

Rain rain go away! Come back again another day! What a wet month it's been- hoping that August may bring out the sun. This month we've had plenty of pretty china from France to try to give us a feeling of summer inside despite the grey skies outside.

Jubilee mania has hit the Rabbit

Great excitement here- it's such an exciting month and we've had so much fun decking the shop out with Union Jack bunting, cushions, bags, tea towels and anything else we can find with a flag on! The partyware has been a big hit.

Missing Clarence...

It has certainly been rather quiet around The Rabbit without poor old Clarence- there's nobody to greet us in morning and there isn't the mad hunt each afternoon to find him before the shop closes for the night. On the plus side we do have the counter back instead of him using it as his bed but for the most part it's a bit lonely without him.

RIP Clarence

We’re very sorry to tell you that after a short illness Clarence died peacefully today.

It’s tinsel town here!!!

The shop is awash with decorations and glitter galore now. I can’t find my bed in the stockroom so am permanently camped out on the counter- well, actually I’m seeing how many Christmas tips I get!

Not long now till Dickensian- hope you can all make it this year after last year’s snow and ice stopped most of the fun.

There’s been lots of work going on around me to fill the shelves with goodies. The shop isn’t just full of decorations but a whole host of gifts- bath products, homewares, books, French inspired goodies and retro accessories!

Oh the indignity…

Well now, I thought I would have a summer of plenty of mouse catching but I thought wrong! I visited the vet for my usual checkup and do you know what? The next thing I awoke minus my teeth- oh the indignity of it all- they’d gone bad! All those years of living rough have definitely taken their toll. I’ve spent time recuperating on the counter and making sure I was fed plenty of tasty morsels to compensate for my loss.

Now that the seasons are changing again there are plenty of new boxes arriving at the shop and my cosy stockroom is becoming full with interesting new things to discover over the coming months. There’s lots of sparkly stuff being crammed in and there’s a growing excitement in the air. There’s plenty to distract me from thoughts of mouse chasing and I’ll let you know my favourite finds as they are unwrapped. Or, if you’re in the area just drop by and I’ll give you a personal guided tour!

The mice are here…

... at last it’s sunny out there and the mice have decided to escape inside to the storeroom- they’ve made themselves right at home in cigar and matchboxes! Watch out for them online- you’d better be quick before I chase them away or on second thoughts… I might fancy a tasty snack instead!

It’s summertime…

I can now get out and about in the long evenings and hunt to my heart’s content. I’ve gathered up plenty of goodies and stashed them away for the right moment! But, to the matter of what I’ve got new for you… I found some fairies down in the woods and they are happy to create a magical party table for little girls. Whether its plates or invites or a dancing fairy centrepiece you are hunting just take a peek and they will start to appear very soon online.

Also on my twilight travels I discovered Celeste and her friends- lovely soft playmates for tots to curl up with. If they’re not for you watch out for the Lion, Elephant and Rabbit Doll or if man’s best friend is your soulmate maybe you should have a look at Philbert? Not my cup of tea though- he is a dog after all!!

Well, I’m off a little stroll down to the river and back to see if the fish are jumping, as nobody has bought me my ham from the bakery today!

Easter goodies are here….

It’s not long now till Easter- all those yummy eggs and chicks! I have added some lovely Easter themed items- just purr-fect for welcoming spring in with longer days and warmer weather.

Why not serve up a scrummy tea party on the Hoppy Bunny plates with coordinating napkins and polish it off with cupcakes and toppers to match. If you’re after the calorie free Easter goodies then look no further as I have floral, metal and glitter eggs to adorn twigs left bare after the hard winter.

I have been hard at it today putting new products into the shop for you. If you fancy brightening up mealtimes why not take a look at the fabulous new red check gingham tableware printed with farmyard animals- choose from placemats to aprons to cushion covers.

Started thinking about Mother’s Day- what about a pretty vintage style rosebud tin? Fill it with her favourite treats and she’ll be in seventh heaven!

Now that February is upon us it’s time to think about that purr…fect gift for the one you love. I have hunted through the stock room and found some lovely gifts that have even got my whiskers twitching! What about map emblazoned washbags, wallets and hip flasks for the men? For women, I have lovely jewellery, purses and decorative gifts galore- I am sure you could find something for the one you love. I’m off for a wash now- just in case the feline of my dreams pops into the shop!

After my tasty bowl of Felix this morning I have had a good look around the stockroom- no mean feat with my new spare tyre! If there is ever any hope of me returning to the comfort of my basket I need to clear some space. So here goes…
